2017 Racing

Post by LarryR »

We made the trip to Tabor City and back. About 2100-miles on the road and 48 laps for Eli and 12 laps for Quin.
We don't have all the final results yet, but Eli did get 1st in AXH both days. icon_clap.gif icon_clap.gif
Both days were 2-pace in the first lap and 1st place in the second.
Saturday the win on time was very close, I don't know the actual number.
Sunday the margin was bigger.
keeper AXH contrast small.jpg
Eli got a 3rd and a 2nd in AX runabout - we've added a lot of speed by moving weights around. What works in J can be terrible in AX.
Eli also got a 2nd and a 3rd in J runabout.
I think he got 5th in JSH on Saturday - 2nd in the first heat and pulled his kill switch in the second for a DNF.
Maybe this shows he's moving his body weight around more.
On Sunday for JSH he finished 3rd in the 1st and 4th in the second - I don't know what his overall finish was, APBA will post it in about 10 days.
He is slowing down in J as he is about 15-lbs over in runabout and nearly 20 in hydro.
We'll see what this means as the year progresses.
Quin finished last (6th) in his four heats, but he finished them all and improved throughout the day.

Overall, it was a very successful weekend although less so that last year's Winter Nationals in Jesup.

Thanks, guys.
The weight issue in J may necessitate the sale of one of our Mercs in a few months.
If anyone has a grandson/granddaughter from 9-12 yo with a possible need for speed, you might want to think about how much fun this can be.
They'll be able to remember the fun much longer than us.

Hey, Michael - how about substituting one of our later photos into the banner?

The extended water has shock waves and even the water leaving the prop has the helical flow pattern 8-)

Here are some candidates. I don't think that I've missed a watermark. All have some water to work with.

I saw "something" on that photo when I was working with it.

I'll pick one of the others.

Buddy Tennel & wife, Jean would likely release the copyright... They are local to me, and close personal friends of Steve77T... She has stated before that any of her race photos are free to use but I will get it in writing...

Actually, it's Jean Tennel who does the photography... Her son, Sam has just started racing just like Eli & Quin.
