A sad time indeed.  I met Steve last year at Stans and am proud to have called him a friend.  He will be missed by all.

I spoke with Steve 930 Friday morning and he was fine. He was at work and we talked of his plans to attend the party on June 9th. I cannot even begin to comprehend he is gone. I am in shock and rocked with grief. Steve and I talked on the phone nearly every day. Goodbye dear friend I will miss you! RIP

Another local friend, racer, & Old Mercury enthusiast has passed.  The gate has closed on an unimaginable cache of engine building, machining & racing knowledge.

Steve was only 66 years old (March 12th)

For anyone wanting an address to send a card, I will post it here for about a week, then take it down so it's not just hanging here.

Tom

Gosh ! He was just answering a question on this board a day or so ago !  He did a machining project for me and was very helpful.

We will miss him for sure.

I did not know that Steve77t was Mr Litzell I only knew him by his postings on this site and sign off as Steve. We exchanged several Emails on engine tech and I was very fortunate to have him answer my questions and tell me interesting times of his experiences and expertise of alky race engines. I would have liked to meet and get to know him. Gone at 66 that is way to soon  :-(  My condolences to the Litzell family.  RIP Steve

Wow. I don't know what to say. I had the pleasure of meeting Steve twice.  He would stop by my garage while out in his travels. Such a nice guy, and a wealth of information. I enjoyed hearing his stories while he enjoyed a glass of bourbon, and myself a beer. Steve has helped me out several times when nobody else could. I first met him when I posted about finding a bearing for my KF9. He answered me saying the bearing was no longer available years ago. He replied "How about I make you an adapter" So he did. I'm sick hearing this news. That move led to many emails, and phone calls.  I pray for his wife, and family. Goodbye my friend. Rest peacefully.

I knew Steve quite well as we raced same class 500 cc runabout in USTS. Was a true gentleman and a tremendous help to all in pits. He loved to sit and tell stories in the evening after racing was over. He believed in doing things right the first time and had the knowledge with the Konig as well all other kinds of motors. He will be missed !
