Most of the Mercs I have done were fairly rough when the project started. I would have to say that the most detailed "beauty" was my KH7. It was definitely a pile when I started. Dented, greasy, and stuck. It got everything it needed and then some!

I called this the "Rat Nest 44". Some critter made a home using starter cord in the top carb/reed cage!

My KF-7.  When running before rebuild it would chirp loudly, and sneeze.  In the second picture note the crank journal, and reeds.
Enjoy

This is our KF-7 that had some mice issues.   I know some said it would have been easier to replace the tank, but I hate to say die.

This was my introduction to this OLD Merc addiction of ours. I found it abandoned on a dock at an island dump in 1989 in Georgian Bay Ontario with a frozen LU. Couldn't believe my eyes, so I bear hugged it back to the cottage out of sheer excitement and respect as it was the first Mark 55E that I'd personally ever seen. I knew Mercs very well, just not green ones. It laid under there for 15 years until a challenge from a good friend of mine to see if we could get it running. Also my intro to the birth of the internet connection for me at the time to see where I could Google "how to find old Mercury parts". My first introduction also to "Johns Old Mercury Site" and "oldmercs.com". It was a heavenly experience! Still is to this day...

My only resto so far.

Left my boat keys at home that day. That's why the harness isn't hooked up.

Ebay buy, for about $30. Scraped the black paint off with scalpel over a winter...
