We put double thickness kneeling pads in both of her boats.Plus she wears a foam knee pad with her brace on her repaired left knee. She takes all this in stride, never complains, just goes out and gives it 100%.
Jerry Davids[our Mercury motor builder]saw that she was not getting into her full tuck,he suggested that a smaller life jacket would help.At Lock Haven there was a lot of safety gear for sale,we checked this out and found a almost new smaller jacket for sale, bought it and it has made an incredible difference. She can now get in a full tuck. She can get down behind the wind screen.
You can see in the video that she keeps ducking down to limit her exposure to the wind.

What a cool video!

I'm amazed at the skill needed to cross the starting line at the correct time - and at full speed.  I imagine a mistimed start could ruin the race.  The camera position was perfect for a POV video (awesome audio didn't hurt either    ).

A mis-timed start results in getting DQ'ed for each boat that jumps the gun-
The jumpers are allowed to continue racing but receive no points for that particular heat

At Lock Haven in CSR heat 1, four of the six boats jumped
The fifth place boat was declared the winner- finisher # six got 2nd place
This meant only finishers 5 & 6 qualified for the overall

In heat 2, the previous fifth place finisher broke down (DNF)
Finisher # six in the previous heat finished heat 2 in last place again but took the overall as he was the only legal boat in both heats
Just the way it works sometimes

Nice work Chloe.  The life jacket lets you tuck nicely.   icon_thumbup.gif

Nice video - Nice result.
Eli did very well in AXH both days at Lockhaven - He lost a first by a hair in Saturday's race (run on Sunday)
Got that one on video, Joe?  Come on!
And yes, Nathan Pittman is tough, but so are Woodle and Campbell.  All are in the top five in high points.

In the second heat of ASH on Saturday all the boats except Eli jumped the start.
So, Eli won his very first ASH (he just turned 14) race in a kludged-up AH rig using his brother's hydro.  Slowest boat in the pack.
We didn't run ASH on Sunday as it was late in the day and we had a long drive.
The next week, at Standish, ME, Eli went rowing on Saturday  (he's on his HS crew team) but finished second behind Erin Woodle in ASH on Sunday.  So, 700 points in just two races puts him on the chart above when the results are published.

Kudos to Eli Larry.  How the heck did he get to 14 all of a sudden.  Man we are getting older faster as we get closer.

Yes, it is a long course.  The kids like it, but it really penalizes a slower boat.
The Nationals course at Grass Lake, MI this year was longer still.

Here's a photo of Eli in his "kludged-up" A hydro rig, using this brother's hydro, with engine jacked up & tucked in as far as we could with the ability to still get on plane.
We ordered a new Sidewinder yesterday.  Only the third new outboard that I've ever bought, and the first for Freeman Farm Racing.
