Raffle KG-7Q

I received motor a couple weeks or so after raffle. I got a lot going on, but I did get it apart. Lucked out, it has Phelon ignition. G

Got a little bit more done today. I poured new handles on the thumb screws. The tower had rubber bushings that were shot. So they got done today also.

Found this liquid mask online. Works good for painting letters on tank rim.

Always happy to see a true "barn find" find new life. I thought the work on the saddle/tower was really outstanding. How exactly did you restore the gearcase skeg material? Welded aluminum?

I take a piece of aluminum and trace bottom of a good gear foot, then bottom of the bad one. I cut the piece with a jig saw. I have a friend that heli arcs. He does an awesome job. He does a little at a time so it doesn't get to hot. Then I grind the weld smooth. I use JB Weld like bondo to finish it. I've done a few this way.
